For the last six years, I have had the privilege of being the Rotary Club of Lakeway Lake Travis adviser to the Lake Travis High School (LTHS) Interact Club. Interact is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. So what is the big deal here? The big deal... The Lakeway City Park
The Lakeway City Park is a 64 acre park in the city of Lakeway, Texas. Free for Lakeway residents and open for a small fee for non-residents, the park has something for just about everyone. The original park with an actual field and play equipment in Lakeway is Dragon Park. I used to take my kids there in the early 1990's. However, Dragon Park was small and Lakeway was growing. New water restrictions were announced recently for communites south of Austin . San Marcos , New Braunfels San Antonio and parts of the southern Austin area other communities draw water from the Edwards Aquifer. The Edwards is huge, but these cities and others pull huge amounts of water out of it. Without much in the way of rain since last June, the level of the aquifer is dropping steadily.
