Taking great digital photos is actually pretty easy as digital cameras have come so far. The technology has allowed people without a lot of photography background to take some really great digital photos.
Your first step to taking great digital photos is knowing the basics of your digital camera. To get started, actually read all or part of the user manual. I know that many people don't like to do this, but there is great information in a user manual. If you are just interested in action shots, look for the rapid burst setting. If all you want is good close-up photos, look for the macro mode. If you are interested in taking photos of far away objects, learn about the digital and optical zoom features. Understand your flash settings. There is a setting to eliminate red eyes when taking digital photos of people and animals. You can also get some great daytime effects using the flash even if in full sunlight.
The great thing about taking digital photos is that you can take lots of them if you have enough memory in the camera or on a memory card in the camera. You can also download to your computer and simply throw away any that you don't like. Then you can dump the digital photos from the memory card and start over.
