Marble Falls, TX – What’s it All about?

Marble Falls is a city in the Central Texas Hill Country about an hour west of Austin. The city is about 90 minutes north of San Antonio and around 200 miles from both Dallas and Houston. Why mention these driving distances? The Marble Falls is a popular place to own a vacation home.
Marble Falls is really the hub of the Highland Lakes area – the part that doesn't include Lake Travis. Within about 30 miles of Marble Falls are around 225,000. The region is home to Lake Marble Falls, Lake LBJ, Inks Lake and Lake Buchanan, the largest of the Highland Lakes. In addition to the lakes, Inks Lake State Park and Longhorn Cavern are in the area.
Not only is there a lot of water to enjoy, but the Marble Falls area is home to a number of golf resort communities. Central to golf is the large resort of Horseshoe Bay. Horseshoe Bayis home to the Horseshoe Bay Marriott hotel, three championship golf courses, tennis courts and a huge private airstrip that can accommodate jets. Applehead Island is a high-end gated, golf community in Horseshoe Bay that has homes with golf and lake views and most home sites have frontage on Lake LBJ.
With all the lakes, golf, parks and the scenic hills, the Marble Falls area thrives on tourism. Marble Falls is also home to one of the better trails of lights in Central Texas and that attracts thousands of people during from mid-November through the end of the year. Other economic activity in the area includes the mining and quarrying of granite. In fact, the pink granite used to build the Texas capitol building came from the Marble Falls area.
So if you're up for golf, want to play on the water, take in a great trail of lights, watch eagles, take a pretty cool (literally – it is cool in the cavern) cavern tour of just drop in and eat at a restaurant, Marble Falls is the place for you to either visit or own a vacation home.
